It was dark. The Orange skies faded into the darkest purple. Three Street punks, two boys an a girl, were riding in their car. They blasted strange music on the speakers.
“Where are we going guys?”
The driver darted his eyes to the buzz cut passenger. “Where We always go my young friend. The Red Dove.”
The girl in the back played with her blue hair- green eyes rolled in the back of her head. She was on an ecstasy high.
“What!?” She yelled. “The boss wants us to do something again? Is the third time it’s friggin week.”
“What do you expect? We’re almost in the club.”
“I know I know…still it sucks.” The girl grunted. She lit a cigarette in the car and blew it out the window.
Going to the red Dove for them at first, turned into an everlasting hell. The place is not safe for humans. It belongs to the night-stalkers. The ones that fly in your window, drain of your life force, and wait until you turn into one of them. If you’re lucky.
That’s what happened to the trio. They were minding their business, drinking beer, watching stupid mic acts. Then they were attacked by Conan. Conan is drac. He claimed he needed new recruits. All he needed was someone to do errands for him. The Red Dove was his mansion. Where all the young vampires came to feed. The recruits were told if they want in. They had to bring delicacies. This was their third day being vampires. And they’re about to mess up badly.
Moments in the car, there was banging in the trunk. The three of them jumped in their seats when they start heard the bloodcurdling scream.
“Oh shit! Shit, shit, shit! Jack panicked.
“What the fuck is that?” The girl had her focus on Jack, the driver.
“Conan wanted us to get food. So, I got food for the house.
The two passengers blood froze.
The girl was out of her trip. “Did you forget to kill him!?”
“I didn’t forget, Hannah. Conan said no dead blood.”
Harrison, the vampire in the passenger seat held his chest, trying to breathe.
“What are we gonna do?”
“We just gotta shut that fucker up in the trunk right now.”
Jack’s face was drenched in sweat and his pale skin turned pink. If they got caught with someone in the trunk, and Conan didn’t eat. Their internal life Would be cut short. Conan did not play about his food. And he was merciless to new recruits. This was a test for them. It was to prove they’re worthy of eternal life. And things didn’t look good for them. They were stuck in traffic and people were hearing the screams. The three of them were in some deep shit. Harrison kept looking around, people were noticing them.
“What the hell are we gonna do, man? Conan is gonna have our asses.”
“Shut the fuck up, Harrison!” Jack’s Palms slipped from sweat as he gripped tightly on the steering wheel. But he didn’t know his own strength. He accidentally snapped the top part of the steering wheel in half.
“Fuck this!” fire came out Jack’s mouth.
He did not give a damn about the traffic. He drove through the red light to a warehouse nearby.
Jack parked the car and got out. The others followed him. When they went to the back of the car, Jack opened the trunk abruptly.
The guy in the trunk screamed for mercy before Jack knocked him out with one punch with a loud thump. Blood spit out the man’s face and hit the top of the trunk door. Some of it was on Jack’s fist. Jack found himself looking at the blood on his hand, just like the other two. They slowly turned to look at the knocked out guy. Their blood was boiling over in a rush. But they weren’t stupid. Their lives were on the line.
Jack forced himself slam the trunk shut. “Let’s get the fuck out of here!” He quickly wiped the blood on his pants.
They were back on the road. They’re so close to the red dove. Then a cop stopped him. It was about to be a bad scene. They were still thinking about the guy in the trunk. And what they wanted to do to him. It was not the day to fuck with them. It was a tall musclebound cop. The beard told them the type of guy he was. An asshole who got off fucking with people. He walked to the car window.
The cop walked in a strut and obviously on a power trip.
Do you know why I stopped you?
Because we’re hungry. Jack Growled.
The skinny figured Jack, pull the 300 pound cop through the window. The three of them tore into his flesh. The cop’s blood sprayed the entire inside like a sprinkler. He screamed, trying to contact anyone to save him, Harrison bit his arm and crunched on his fingers. The taste was savory. It was like they were chowing down on a burger, with juices seeping out the meat. The screams quickly turned into a high pitched tone. Then tone softly faded. They were done in a matter of minutes. They couldn’t leave the body, so they took it with them for a few more miles.
When they were near The Red Dove, they dumped him in garbage container.
They were at home stretch. All they had to do was bring one living body to the place.
The place was gated. A guard was there. He asked them, where do you find a red Dove? Harrison spoke, “In the veins of every human.” With blood dripping off his chin. The gates opened.
People cheering for them, maybe even proud for these new vampires. One of the vampire’s asked, where’s the food?
It’s in the trunk.
They were so proud of themselves. they actually did it. Then Harrison saw a bloody trail that stretched all the way to the gates.
Little did they know. Jack’s punch cracked the guy’s skull and he bled inside the trunk. All the other vampires circled around the three of them. The other vampires growled and hissed in a deep hum.
Moments later, they were in the presence Conan himself. His face scrunched as he growled low and deep.
“So. Which one of you dumb fucks ruined the cook out?” Harrison and Hannah pointed to Jack. They both moved out of the way. Jack was shaking.
“It’s OK Jack.” Conan smiled. “Come here. You did your best.”
Conan stretched out his arms to hug Jack. And when Jack got close, his head exploded by the force of Conan clapping his hands. Hannah and Harrison’s eyes widened.
“Let us be a lesson to all of you! Don’t fuck with my food!”
Hannah and Harrison shook on the spot. Conan looked at them for a moment.
“Welcome to the club. Now, clean your fucking friend off my lawn.”
And so, they were in. They lost her best friend Jack. This was their new life now. Sadly, Jack Will never experience everlasting life. But he lives through them. And they would never forget that night. Probably not even in a million years.
